It can be a really fun change of pace to take care of dogs when you’re used to taking care of kids. How busy you are with this job (and how many dogs you walk) depends on how much money you hope to earn.
There are applications like amazing! Where people can find pet sitters and dog walkers. If you’re able to network and get your name out there, you can bypass the app and work directly with people, earning around $14 an hour.

2. Child care in the summer
Your experience as a teacher (especially an elementary teacher) will give you a boost before competing for summer childcare jobs.
When children come home for the summer, families will need nannies or summer childcare help. The best site to find jobs like this is Care.com.

Teachers are the best teachers because they really know how to break down difficult concepts and make them easier to understand.
Many families hire private tutors in the summer, especially if their child is having difficulty with a particular subject.
I personally have experience being a private tutor and getting paid $30-$50 an hour! I loved the flexibility of this part-time job and highly recommend it.
It was perfect for extra income in the summer. The best part is that I was able to work with a few of my former students.
4. Uber/Lyft ride sharing
I’ve often recommended these car services as a side hustle for teachers but now that school is out, it’s a great summer job for teachers too!
When you don’t have to wake up early to go to school, you can work as an Uber/Lyft driver late at night (this is when prices are highest and there are the most demands).
In fact, there may be tax benefits to driving for Uber or Lyft; Such as mileage discounts, cell phone bills, and any snacks or water bottles you purchase for customers.
5. Airbnb
There are plenty of people who will fix up a basement or extra bedroom during busy summer travel and list it on Airbnb. It’s a great way to earn extra money and you can use electricity and other household expenses as a tax deduction.

I personally sold items (and still sell items to this day!) on the Teachers Pay Teachers website. I thought if I was creating it for my classroom, I could put it together nicely and sell it on TPT.

Being a camp counselor is a really fun way to make a little extra money in the summer. This won’t make you rich, but it will pay off when you see the difference you can make in children’s lives!

9. Sell handicrafts online
Express your creativity by making some handicrafts and selling them online. It’s free to sell on Facebook. Or you can pay a small fee and sell on Etsy or your local farmers market.

10. Dropbots company
Are you really into STEM? Then this idea is just for you!
